A Melancholy Thank You to Our Customers

It is with regret we announce the closing of FindMe Location Services

There's no easy way to say this, so I'll just come out and say that we're forced to end the FindMe business. For the past two years we've operated this business at right around a 'break-even' rate (more often below break even) but recent changes to the technology have forced us to evaluate whether or not we can sustain the product offering in the face of significant updates to our software to support the new requirements of the vendors with whom we have partnered through the life of the product.

At the end of the day, the simple answer is no. There's just no way to justify the investment that would be required to update our software and systems in order to carry forth a product that has never turned a profit.

This was not an easy decision. It's one that I've struggled with over the past several weeks once it became clear that we were facing a problem.

I wanted to thank all of our customers for their past support. We always believed we had a great concept, and a great product, and have worked hard to provide great services. Perhaps we haven't always succeeded, but we've always tried.

We shut down our billing system on February 29th. We are going to calculate any refunds owed and checks will be sent out to customers that have a balance on their account as of February 29, 2008. If you feel you are owed a refund, please call our office at 407-656-9744 by March 30, 2008 - ask for Tracy.

In addition, I wanted to point our customers to the Sprint Family Locator. It's a product similar to FindMe, available on Sprint phones, and costs about twice as much as FindMe - but if you still believe in the peace of mind that FindMe offered, I wanted to make you aware. I know many of our customers have come to rely on FindMe for the sense of security that we envisioned when we created the product.
